Goodbye, 2015
Scripture: My times are in your hands . . . (Psalm 31;15 NIV)
I looked back over my journal, searching for January 1, 2015, to see if I’d achieved any of last year’s goals. Not really! The 20-pound weight loss didn’t happen (again!). So it goes back on the list this year, with the additions of healthy eating, daily walking, and a good support group.
I didn’t finish the book I had started writing.
I didn’t finish the quilt I wanted to complete.
I didn’t see a great deal of the spiritual fruit listed in Galatians 5:22-23. But I did recommit myself to the Lordship of Jesus each morning, and I trust He will bring about the transformation I need as I hold His hand.
I did follow the one-year reading plan posted on line by Bible Gateway, using the New Living Translation, with extra study of the New Testament at a wonderful site called Sermon Central. I also filled a spiral notebook with insights and prayers. At the end of December, the Bible was so well marked and color-coded, no margins were left. I gave it to a new Christian to help him find the “best” scriptures.
I did have back surgery this past summer, which gave immediate relief from chronic sciatica, thanks to my Great Physician and the skilled hands of Dr. Thomas Cartwright.
So goodbye, 2015. You brought many blessings, many friendships, and many opportunities to serve my Lord. May the New Year be even better and draw us all closer to Jesus!
Prayer: Father, I pray for Your guiding hand to lead me throughout the days ahead, that I might please You and bring honor to Your name. Amen.
