Scripture: And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23 ESV).
Jesus’s message is being corrupted by people today because they want the message without the Man. Too many mouth the words, “love one another,” and “judge not,” but leave out Christ and His call to righteousness.

Deitrich Bonheoffer called this “cheap grace,” the deadly enemy of Christianity. He taught that true grace—costly grace—condemns sin and calls for complete surrender of our lives. His own courageous stand against evil cost him his life just days before World War II ended.
The only way we truly follow Jesus is to seek Him passionately. He is both Truth and Grace, God and man, incredible courage and beauty incarnate.

When we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, only then are we able to love our neighbor correctly.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, place in my heart a burning desire to know You more fully and to follow you more closely. Let Your costly grace permeate my heart, mind, and soul and change my life. Amen.
